Regency Security were proud to be providing security when Bill Gates visited the Cambridge Union. Mr Gates was speaking on Monday morning (October 7) after being named the 2019 recipient of the Professor Hawking Fellowship, founded by the Cambridge Union Society in 2017 in honour of Prof Stephen Hawking’s contribution to Cambridge.

The Cambridge Union has hosted world famous debates of the most pressing issues, discussed by some of the most influential people in the world. In June, Regency Security looked after the Malaysian Prime Minister during his UK visit and in May Regency provided security for Andrew Wheeler, the head of the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Bill Gates launched Microsoft with a childhood friend in 1975, it went on to become the world’s largest personal computer software company. Earlier this year, Forbes announced Gates Net Worth to be US$103.7 billion.

Later in his career and since leaving Microsoft, Gates pursued several philanthropic endeavours. He donated large amounts of money to various charitable organisations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, reported to be the world’s largest private charity.
