Regency Security has welcomed the launch of the new campaign launched by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) which aims to address violence against security staff.

The #SaferWorkplaces campaign is aimed at encouraging security operatives to report violence against them. It’s also aimed at employers and venue managers, to remind them of their role in ensuring the safety and well-being of their security staff.

The #SaferWorkplaces campaign, which is aimed at workers in the daytime economy, is a companion to the SIA’s #SaferNightsOut campaign which ran earlier this year.

Gary Powers, Managing Director of Regency Security said, “the services we provide our clients take place during the day and the night. This campaign really helps strengthen the message that violence against security workers shouldn’t be tolerated at any level. We really encourage all staff to report incidents of any violence against them.”

Earlier this month Regency Security Door Supervisor, Dave Aslett was viciously assaulted in Norwich, on a Sunday at 6.30 pm. Dave said, “I feel fortunate to have had so many people offer to help and have been overwhelmed with the love and support from the people of Norwich. I want to thank Regency Security for all their support that they have given me, both financially, keeping me on full pay and for the kindness that they have shown.”

Gary responded by setting up a collection for Dave at his own clubs and bars operated by G&J Leisure (Mantra, Bond and Fetch), with other venues including The Loft and Stadia adding themselves to show support. To date, the collection has raised £200. In addition, Dave’s Niece set up an online fundraising page which has currently raised £1,140 https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kelly-milsom.

Police confirmed they were investigating the incident, and said a man in his 30s, from the Norwich area, had been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been released on bail until December 5 pending further enquiries.

The #SaferWorkplaces campaign is running from 25 November until 06 December.
