2015 saw exciting expansions for The Regency Security Group. The Essex headquartered group which operates across the UK has seen strong growth since being established in 1993 but saw record turnover last year growing to £16million showing a 30% increase like on like compared to previous years. The company has opened 3 new offices in Canary Wharf, Grays and Southampton which run alongside the existing offices in Braintree, Norwich and Birmingham.

The first stage of Regency’s expansion took place in March when they finalised their acquisition of Securidoor UK Ltd. Securidoor was one of the leading Private Security Companies in the South of England. The acquisition was the result of negotiations initiated by Regency Security as part of its ongoing strategy of expansion and was a natural progression for Regency’s rapidly growing business. Securidoor was a well-respected name within the Private Security Industry on the South coast of England and was a healthy and profitable business. Securidoor was an obvious choice as it operated under a similar business model to Regency Security and is shared the company’s strong focus on delivering quality and professional standards that surpass industry and client expectations.

Gary Powers, Managing Director of The Regency Security Group, said, ‘The acquisition of Securidoor was a great win for Regency. Securidoor had a solid growth trajectory and high potential for ongoing development within the South of England. The integration of Securidoor’s clients and staff has been very successful and we’ve seen our business in the South of England growing steadily throughout the year. The ownership transition has been seamless from Securidoor to Regency thanks to the continuity of the management team.’

The second part of Regency’s expansion took place when they acquired Doorsec. Doorsec is a prominent security company in London and the Home Counties. The acquisition saw Regency further strengthen its presence in these areas and take on prestigious brands such as Egg and The Deltic Group. Doorsec bought 350 Door Supervisors with them as part of the acquisition which has made The Regency Security Group the largest providers of Door Supervisors in the UK.

Gary Powers, Managing Director said ‘Doorsec has bought a fantastic new dynamic to Regency with some great new iconic brands that we are delighted to work with. Having worked alongside Doorsec for many years it has been great to welcome Lee Hornsby, Managing Director of Doorsec, and his management and security teams into the Regency fold’

Regency Guarding and Events Ltd has gone from strength to strength in 2015. The turnover has increased by 45% with the emphasis being on key holding and the security work within the NHS. There has been some big client wins including high end jewellers, local authority and sensitive pharmaceutical companies. Conor Powers, Guarding Manager, said, ‘last year was a tremendous year for our new division and 2016 is already set to be an exciting year with new clients coming on board such as Excel London and a premiership football club soon to be announced’.

In 2015 Regency saw a dramatic rise in the requirement for private security firms to provide Street Patrols in neighbourhoods and high streets. The general consensus is this has arisen from cuts in public sector funding. Paul DeAngelis, Business Director for The Regency Security Group, has been working for the last 5 years with the police to make Regency one of the few Private Security Companies with the CSAS and ACPO accreditations.

Paul DeAngelis, Business Director said ‘This year saw us take our CSAS (Community Safety Accreditation Scheme) nationwide. Five years ago we piloted the scheme for our organisation through Essex Police and as well as further cementing our working relationship with the local authorities we were able to deploy accredited staff to aid in the reduction of anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder.

We decided that the scheme was so successful for us that we wanted to take the coverage nationwide and the first step towards this was applying through the ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) scheme. The company was fully vetted and audited and at the end of the summer we successfully gained accredited status. We are now free to automatically enrol in all schemes throughout the country.

This is great news for Regency Security as we believe that through the CSAS partnership we will be able to assist the Police in their difficult tasks as well as opening the door of opportunity for more specific work where we can deploy our CSAS accredited staff as more and more former public sector contracts move towards the private sector as the never ending tightening of the national purse continues to take effect.’

One of Regency Security’s proudest achievements of 2015 is to have teamed up with Help for Heroes to become a Corporate Partner. Help for Heroes is a charity very close to the hearts of the security teams at Regency as many are ex-servicemen themselves. There are lots of events planned already to raise money for this very worthwhile cause that Regency are inviting all their team to join in. These range from a charity football match at Norwich City Football Club to Toughmudders and the 3 Peaks Challenge.

2016 is set to see further expansion of The Regency Security Group.

Gary Powers, MD, said ‘2016 is going to be a busy year for the group. We have recently acquired new premises to accommodate the ever growing business. This will be a new centre for our nationally acclaimed training company which has grown rapidly year on year and the need for larger training facilities is becoming essential. Our expansion plans for the next 5 years include several new acquisitions in the Door Supervisor and Guarding sectors which will be announced throughout 2016. This will create many more jobs across the country within the group on top of the 300 jobs created last year. We are planning further expansion in the North and will be opening offices in Leeds and Newcastle. Having this extra infrastructure in place will further strengthen our position nationally. We had a great year with our existing clients who are continually growing and adding new venues to their portfolios and we look forward to another successful year with them, along with welcoming new clients who are joining us in the coming months. This is exciting times for Regency and everyone involved’.
